The Government has recently announced a number of fiscal measures, namely the release of £330bn (around 15% of GDP) into the economy with the aim of helping SME and the wider economy recover. These include business rate holidays, grants and government-backed loans which will be available from 23rd March.

Following the recent government announcement on 23rd March, the UK has now entered into a nationwide lockdown and all non-essential businesses must close. In a historical turn of events, our movement has now been almost completely restricted and we are forced to adapt to ths ever-changing set of circumstances. We must now all follow government advice and stay at home.

    COVID-19 Update (April 7) – Help for Self-employed

    The Government has recently introduced a wave of measures intended to ease the burden on self-employed individuals affected by COVID-19 including the Self-employment Income Support Scheme which allows you to claim 80% of your trading profits (up to £2,500) over the next three months. There is now also provision for the self-employed to qualify for Universal Credit, depending on their circumstances.

    COVID-19 Update (April 27) – New Government-Backed Loan Scheme

    On April 27th, following the criticism of the recently-introduced Coronavirus Business Interruption Loans Scheme (CBILS), the government announced the Bounce Back Loan Scheme (BBLS). Businesses will be able to borrow between £2,000 and £50,000, with an initial 12-month interest-free period. The cash can be accessed within days thanks to the finance fast track finance scheme.

        COVID-19 Update (June 4) – Looking To The Future 

        At its worst, the outbreak of COVID-19 highlighted many of the flaws and weaknesses in our current system. At its best, it has united communities around the world to work together to help beat the spread. Now that we are past the peak of the virus, it is imperative that we look forward and build new businesses, systems, and work processes that will bolster our resilience in years to come.
